In this way the ProTect systems eliminate the dreaded consequences of web wrappers in the printing units and any damage to other units in the rotary press lines. Thanks to the web severers, press stoppages can be kept to a minimum and re-starting of the rotary press line after a web break is expedited.

Web severing and clamping systems
These safety systems are installed upstream of the printing units and upstream and/or downstream of the last heatset dryer.
When the web break sensors in the press line detect a web break, the ProTect models M180 - M196 sever the web and clamp the head of the incoming part of the web. Thus the wrapper that might occur in the printing unit is reduced to a minimum. The effort and time required for re-webbing is considerably reduced after elimination of the fault.
