With the automatic WebCatcher S18 BALDWIN offers a press protection system that reliably eliminates the dreaded wrap-ups after a web break. The WebCatcher S18 helps to keep press downtime to a low level. The fully integrated, automatic BALDWIN WebCatcher S18 has been designed for all usual web offset presses with web speeds up to 18 m/s. It may be retrofitted to existing press lines without any problems. The WebCatcher S18 requires less space for installation. It is mounted between the last printing unit and the heatset dryer. The WebCatcher S18 is a fully integrated system. An integrated sensor continuously monitors the web during printing. The sensor of the WebCatcher S18 detects the web break and activates the web catching system in milliseconds. In case of a web break, the Web-Catcher S18 pulls the web from the last printing unit before wrapping around the cylinders by guiding the same onto the floor in front of the dryer. By this way non-productive, costly press downtime lasting between 0.5 and 2.5 hours caused by a web break, is reduced to a minimum, and the web can resume production printing within short.
