8/30/2010
Stand 1261
Baldwin Technology Company, Inc., a global supplier of process automation and press auxiliary components and systems for more than 90 years, will use the Chicago Graph Expo to put the spotlight on its industry-leading products. Much of that focus will be on the ability to combine a number of Baldwin products into a total press automation solution for optimum efficiency in the pressroom.
Individually or as part of a value-added combination, the Baldwin system adds up to an extensive product portfolio for the commercial sheet fed, commercial web, newspaper and corrugated packaging sector. Along with its ‘Just Ask’ concept, Baldwin can provide creative solutions for every printer which will increase productivity while also reducing process costs, waste costs and environmentally harmful VOC’s of their printing presses. Visitors to Graph Expo need Just Ask! It’s that simple.
While on Stand 1261, visitors and customers will see the complete range of individual Baldwin solutions, though our main focus will be on the cost-effective combination of systems to suit every printer, every press, and every financial budget.
This show will provide the American debut of the Baldwin UV products which is the result of the recent acquisition of the very successful Nordson line of graphic arts products which now offers a full range of proven UV products for the sheet fed, commercial and newspaper markets.
Baldwin will also be promoting Baldwin’s proven line of consumables, aftermarket and enhancement products which are available to the large installed base of Baldwin cloth and brush cleaning systems as well as cloth conversion blanket cleaning systems for the large number of exiting sheet fed presses in the Americas marketplace. This show will also introduce our latest Clean Pac product line as an efficient solution to replace the solvent laden rags in the pressroom.
Fully Automated Press Cleaning Systems
In terms of individual solutions Baldwin offers the largest selection of press cleaning systems in the world and these are based on more than 35 years of experience of designing, building and installing systems. These are supported by a variety of industry-leading consumables.
Baldwin offers several options to the end user depending on the specific application;
ImpactFusion and Flex2E, which utilises dry or pre-impregnated cloth.
ProTech2 NP, which uses groundbreaking brush cleaning technology.
TowerClean, which is an inexpensive automatic blanket cleaning system offering a very fast return on investment and is ideal for today’s tower design presses.
Jetstream, web cleaning system, removes dust from the paper web before it enters the first printing unit.
FlexoPlateCleaner, which is a unique patented automatic plate cleaning system that enhances print quality by delivering clean and dry flexo plates specifically for corrugated flexo presses.
ImpactFusion and Flex2E
Unmatched levels of cleaning time and reductions in waste and consumables are just some of the benefits offered by Baldwin’s award winning cloth type automatic blanket cleaning systems. No other company has been as successful as Baldwin in the area of blanket cleaning innovations. Key features of the ImpactFusion-F technology are the controlled cloth advance, the defined spray distribution and the precise cloth usage sensor. The Flex2E system is designed with similar benefits as Fusion but at a lower overall installed cost. The Flex2E system is also aimed at the existing Baldwin Impact user who can now upgrade their existing system and greatly enhance overall performance and reduce total operating cost.
ProTech2 NP
ProTech, which uses brush technology to automatically clean blankets, has been established for many years within the newspaper and semi-commercial markets. The latest system, ProTech2 NP, was introduced during 2009 and is already producing very impressive results for users. Main improvements are the movable flicker bar and spray nozzle technology. Customers using this new brush technology are appreciating the reduced washing time, usage of less washing agent and, improved spray distribution and longer maintenance intervals.
TowerClean
Baldwin’s Tower Clean system for newspaper and semi-commercial, single-width and double width newspaper offset presses, is an inexpensive, modular cleaning solution. TowerClean operates by applying a low-VOC washing agent to the paper and then using the web to clean the blanket. This system excels in today’s tower design presses.
WebCleaning
Jetstream is a revolutionary system for contact-less removal of dust, fibres and debris from the web before it enters the first printing unit. Aimed at the newspaper and commercial-web sectors, Jetstream incorporates specially developed aerodynamic suction technology. When used in combination with a Baldwin automatic blanket cleaning system.
WebCatcher for heatset production
In the area of web protection, Baldwin offers reliable web separation and clamping devices under the product name ProTect and these include the new WebCatcher S14 and the WebCatcher S18 for use in the newspaper and semi-commercial area. The new WebCatcher S14 will prevent press damage from a web break at speeds of up to 13 m/s and the WebCatcher S18 for web speeds of up to 18 m/s. Customer options for the WebCatcher series include the stripe wrap-up recognition system DSWP and the automatically adjustable Airknife A³ and a web stabilizer.
Fluid and Temperature Systems - dampening solution preparation and filtration with sustainability
Baldwin’s own brand of Basicliner refrigerated products along with the very popular AWS line of chilling systems has proven to be an excellent combination for providing reliability and high value in today’s pressroom. Baldwin’s product range includes options for all market segments, performance and capacity requirements, including solutions for reducing or eliminating alcohol and energy saving by using the “free-cooling” feature.
Spray Dampening Technology
Baldwin’s LithoSpray Maxima is a multi-faceted spray dampening system that was developed for high performance applications in newspaper and commercial presses. Baldwin leads the industry in spray nozzles, valves and control technology, which ensure optimized control of print quality during press start-up and normal daily production and also during long periods of high press speeds. LithoSpray Maxima is fitted with Baldwin’s patented Constant C technology, eliminating blocking of spray nozzles caused by ink mist and dust.
UV Curing Systems
Baldwin’s UV Curing systems for the sheet fed, newspaper and semi-commercial sector include the very successful QuadCure™ product line. Its unique design UV curing system featuring top and dedicated side reflectors allows adapting to changing UV requirements, such as the position in the printing press and the curing of inks or coatings. This consistently achieves excellent curing results with minimal input power.
The QuadCure™ UV lamp head is available in a standard version with dichroic reflectors as well as the “QuadCure i” high intensity increased version of the “QuadCure™ ”which is ideal for curing high speed web applications.
The exceptionally compact design utilizes both water and air for efficient cooling and quick release air / water couplings and along with a single quick release plug for power and control. Ergonomically located handles and suitably engineered mountings allow for safe, quick and easy handling of the lamp head.
Consumables
Baldwin introduces a new extended and exciting range of its award-winning, environmentally efficient line of consumables for automatic cleaning systems. Baldwin is now able to offer high performance consumables solutions for hybrid, UV and textured cylinder applications as well as significantly improved and cost-effective cleaning for newspaper, commercial web, retail/insert and sheet-fed printing applications.
In addition to this, Baldwin is introducing the newly developed CleanPac, a system for manual cleaning of the press as well as gentle hand cleaning for the operators. The CleanPac line consists of pre-impregnated sheets for machine and hand wash, complemented with dry sheets. CleanPac is a convenient and cost-effective alternative to the conventional cleaning rags.
Service Solutions
In today’s demanding market, printers have to achieve maximum productivity and reliability in their equipment. Baldwin uses a highly efficient global service organisation to provide technical support around the world to customers. Individually tailored service packages can incorporate retrofits and system optimisation, after-sales support, spare parts etc can be created according to the needs of the printer. Preventive measures can also be added into the package. In addition to this, Baldwin offers special retrofit upgrades so that customers can maintain their systems with optimum efficiency, while its consulting and training services ensure that the user obtains maximum benefits from Baldwin equipment.
