Star Publications Makes Significant Investment in Baldwin Impact Global Blanket Cleaning Systems

3/9/2005

Shelton, CT

Baldwin Technology Company, Inc. (ASE:BLD) announced today that Star Publications (Malaysia) Bhd has placed an order for IMPACT® Global automatic blanket cylinder cleaning systems with a value in excess of $4 million. The new blanket cleaning systems will be fitted onto existing Goss Color Liner 80 and new Goss Universal 50 presses for the Star Publication’s operations in Kuala Lumpur and Penang, Malaysia. The production and installation of the IMPACT Global systems, which will be engineered and manufactured in Baldwin’s Arlov, Sweden operation, will commence during the second quarter of 2005 and be completed in 2006 as the new Goss Universal presses are brought on-line.

Peter Tkachuk, Managing Director of Baldwin Graphic Equipment, commented: "Baldwin has built a very positive relationship with Star Publications over the past years as a result of our successful spray dampening installations on their Color Liner press lines. We are now extra-ordinarily pleased that Star Publications will have once again reflected their confidence in Baldwin by choosing us to equip both their existing Goss Color Liner and new Goss Universal press lines with our award-winning IMPACT Global automatic blanket cleaning systems.”

“Baldwin has demonstrated that they can provide Star Publications with the technology and support we expect,” added Mr. Ng Yew Choy, Senior Manager Technical Services, Star Publications. “Star Publications is confident in making this significant investment with Baldwin for its IMPACT Global automatic blanket cleaning systems, and, as in the past, we will count on Baldwin to do all that is possible to see that we meet and exceed our expectations to improve print quality, increase productivity and our ability to comply with Malaysia’s growing environmental vigilance.”

Vijay C. Tharani, Chief Financial Officer of Baldwin Technology, concluded: “Baldwin’s backlog has now grown by over twenty percent since the end of December 2004 to more than $60 million. Our strengthening backlog and The Star order demonstrate that the global printing and publishing markets continue to improve, as does Baldwin’s position within the market and its competitive ability to close significant new business.”
